Welcome to our current and recent additions to the Mākara Model School community. On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to welcome our new Principal James Appleton and two new teachers, Hanna and Aaron to the school. We continue to offer four classes, allowing for the low teacher to student ratio in a unique rural community on the outskirts of Wellington city with a fantastic outdoor play area, bike track and flying fox.
In 2025, the school will be building on its successful structured literacy programme and continue to promote our M.A.K.A.R.A values. The board utilises School docs, an external provider, to store and manage the school's Policy and Procedure documents. These guide the management of the school and the processes to be followed in different situations. School docs are accessible by anyone, and families can provide feedback when policies come up for review. These can be accessed via the link in the website under school policies.
2025 is also an election year which will be held in September. Details will come out closer to this date, but if anyone is interested in what being on the Board looks like then please get in touch at: board@mms.school.nz
