School Governance

Message from our Chairperson:

Kiā ora koutou

A warm welcome to our new and existing Mākara Model School families. After a disruptive and busy last two years the Board is looking forward to a more settled year with the support of our existing teaching staff and our new Principal Caro Wills. We are pleased to continue to offer four classes, allowing for the low teacher to student ratio that we believe allows each of our students to be individually supported.
Over 2022 MMS will be building on its successful Positive Behaviour For Learning programme, this programme aligns well with our Mākara Way and provides school wide expectations.
The board utilises Schooldocs, an external provider, to store and manage the school's Policy and Procedure documents, these guide the management of the school and the processes to be followed in different situations. The benefit of Schooldocs is the documents are easily assessible by anyone and families can provide feedback when policies come up for review.  These can be accessed via the link below (School Policies).
It is also election year! The elections will be held in September and details will come out closer to this date, but if anyone is interested in what the Board's role is and what being on the Board looks like then please touch base with a member of the Board or come to one of our meetings.

Ngā mihi nui
